A handshake with Jarhir Demak, the man who was never given before the many trials of life. The account of Jahir and his brothers is more than a story. With their war and sacrifices the Demak Brothers have already written one of the brighter pages of Kosovo's history. The Demak family, as one of Kosovo's few, provided many fighters for freedom, independence, and statehood; in war they gave martyrs, soldiers, and skilled commanders in peace to unique leaders. On the other hand, to the irony of fate, more than the Demach Brothers did not pay for postwar injustices and absurdities. Though they gave much for freedom, it has often been bitter for them. But the unjust prison of his brothers Fadil and Nexhat, and of the four dear brothers, Jahir Demach, only adds pride and boasting to him; for he remains a warrior's soul to the end.
