German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on the occasion of the inauguration of US President Joseph Biden, praised that there is again a <x0) wider area of political agreement” that enables better co-operation.
This, as she added at the press conference, is confirmed by the first decisions the new president has already made.
“Co-operation in international organisations is again possible, as well as, for example, in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change or the World Health Organization,” she explained.
Merkel also stressed that the arrival of the new president cannot only count on harmonised positions, but also on discussions on how to do good things for both countries, as President Biden represents the interests of the United States and Germany.
“Europe, of course, will have to take on more responsibility, not only military but diplomatic. “But the good news is we are ready and the EU is ready,” said the German Chancellor.
