After the confirmation of election results from Congress, the country's priority should be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and days after the inauguration are spent peacefully and in line with established democratic norms. writes Mr. Zuckerberg, this is Periscope.

The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump is trying to use the remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and legitimate transition of power to his successor, Joe Biden.
His decision to use his platform to forgive and not condemn the actions of his supporters in the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the United States and around the world. We're going to erase these statements yesterday because we judge that their effect and perhaps the goal would be to provoke further violence.
After the certificate of election results from Congress, the country's priority must be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and days after the inauguration pass peacefully and in line with established democratic norms.
Over the past few years, we have allowed Trump to use our platform in adaptability to our rules, sometimes removing content or labeling his posts when we violate our policies. We did this because we believe that the public is right at the widest possible approach of political discours, even that contractor. But the recent context is fundamentalally different, which uses the platform to promote violence against the elected democratic government.
We believe that the dangers of allowing the president to continue using our services during this period are too great. Therefore, we are expanding the deadlocks we have made to his Facebook and Instagram account indefinitely and for at least two weeks to complete the transition of power.
