The virus was first discovered in Wuhan at the end of 2019, where it is thought that it first exploded in a market, writes BBC.
O Chief BSH Tedros Adhanom Ghebreersesus said it was a very disappointed “that China had not yet completed its entry permits “, since two members had begun their trips and others were unable to travel in the last minute”.
“I am assured that China is speeding up the internal procedure for deployment as early as possible,” he told reporters Tuesday in Geneva, explaining that he had been in touch with top Chinese officials to stress that the mission is a priority for WHO and the international team.
O The BSH has worked to send a team of 10 international experts to China in order to investigate the animal origins of pandemic and exactly how the virus first passed on to humans.
Last month it was announced that the investigation would begin in January 2021. Both members of the international team who were headed to China had travelled early Tuesday, O said BSH. According to Reuters news agency, O emergency chief Mike Ryan's BSH said one was back and one was in a third place.
