A strong earthquake rocked medium Croatia at Christmas time and restrictive measures, against Corona's pandemic. The second wave of pandemic has hit Croatia hard. The strict measures were forced to reduce the alarming number of infections and deaths. But because of the earthquake, they had to be abolished overnight.
A number of patients had to be displaced from hospitals destroyed by the earthquake and brought to the capital, Zagreb. Some of them were laid down at the “Dubrava” clinic, since the early pandemic returned to the special clinic for Covid. Clinic Director “Dubrava”,
Ivica Lukhrik, says this is not a normal condition. None of us in the health system know situations like this we're going through right now. More people are dying in us than normal. ”
“The sense of failure”
This situation is taking a heavy toll on young doctors, says the experienced doctor. With doctors and nurses having little experience with hospital work, this ongoing death creates a sense of insecurity, and a sense of responsibility. They wonder: Could we do more? Did we do everything that was in our power? And that creates a sense of failure. ”
All of Covid's patrolmen are covered from head to head in protective clothing - all faces, even eyes. Patients can distinguish between name and advantage. They work in four - hour shifts, vacationing in a hospital, a very tiring situation, says a nurse. And also physical. If you're at work, you're “xhur” you don't think about fatigue. ”
After the earthquake in Zagreb citizens try to return to normal
Work on terms of an extraordinary situation. Each day, nurses are with seriously ill personal patients, often there are the last ones to see the sick before they live. Some nurses from other hospitals came as support. A new and very stressful experience even for Anna Primorac, the head nurse of the Clinic “Dubrava” “You're in this extraordinary way of work and stuck there”, she says.
Meanwhile, more than 70% of the clinic's medical personnel “Dubrava” has been registered to take the vaccine against Corona. One piece has been vaccinated, the rest has already gone by Coddy-19. Positive are signs of recent weeks in Croatia. The number of infections has begun to decline, the vaccine has arrived. After a long time, little light of hope even at the Devi clinic “Dubrava” - despite the disasters that 2020 brought to Croatia.
