Covidian volunteers report for the human mission during quarantine in Kosovo

Kosovo in early March, as well as other states, was facing an invisible <x0-war”. Hundreds of Kosovo young people indicated they are willing to head a human mission. They do volunteer work. Gent Jakupi of Peja, a physician by profession, and Miranda Wessel of Gjilan, a hairworker, were among [...]
Gent Jakupi from Peja, a doctor by profession and Miranda Veselin from Gjilan, a hair-professor, were among the first to start volunteer work since the first few days when Kosovo faced cases with David-19.
Gail joined the group of volunteers who served at the Students Centre in Pristina, which in the first few months of the pandemic was converted into quarantine. Until Miranda helped families in need, reporting and providing for them basic things for living. Mostly food and clothing.
In a story about Gazeta Insander, Gail and Miranda say that although they worked for hours during those days, they felt fulfilled to be part of this human mission.
Gail, 25, was involved in controlling people suspected of being infected with koroanvirus and isolated for 14 days at the Student Center. Gail's daily temperature was measured, followed by the condition of any symptoms or other diseases.
I've been engaged as a volunteer since March 20. Over the years of my studies, I have prepared to help others, and when the pandemic happened, I said to myself, "This is the market moment by itself”," Gail said.
The voluntary beginnings were difficult for him, since they were a small group of only 10 and worked incessantly.
There have been days when there is not much commitment but there are days after which we have stayed from morning to 2-3 night helping me. The first three weeks we haven't stopped at all is about the beginning where we've only been 10 people”, Gail relates.
During volunteer work in the dormitory turned quarantine, Gent's worst case was the day when 26-year-old Agon Musliu had been thrown off the fifth floor of dormitories. He says the day Agon Musliu was quarantined was present in his admission.
The case of the late Agon Musliu has been too heavy for us as volunteers all the time, and especially on that day has been a grim atmosphere, I can say it was one of the most difficult times. For us a difficult moment has been even when the parliamentary commission has been questioning us, and there have been ethical questions directed at us about the case of Agonit”, the 25-year-old says.
He shows that volunteers there have often been offended and insulted by citizens who should be quarantined. Despite this, he says they haven't stopped, because there have been also “people who have been very grateful to us have constantly congratulated us and that's a good feeling”.
There were times when we were told that you were trying, what you're giving so hard you don't have to pay, but we as volunteers that we've thought of nothing like this”, he says.
Miranda, 23, said her job began every day with the identity of needy families, and their reporting to ask for help.
I've become part of a group of volunteers #volunteerscovid19, since presenting the first cases to Covid-19 in Kosovo. I knew that many people in Gnjilan but also in other countries live in difficult conditions and I had the desire to help you”, Miranda says about Insideer.
She says every report on social cases has been difficult for her.
People who had neither a roof over their head nor a food, while the pandemic was making slaughter where it is harder than looking closely at these cases”, she said.
Miranda recalls that on one occasion she felt so happy that immediately after reporting on the case of an eight - member family of goodwill people have helped.
A case that has made me feel good is the case of a family of eight members who have lived in very difficult conditions, and after my post the furniture for the house, laundry and food package” has been provided, she relates.
Both of these Miranda Grant volunteers were in touch with a lot of people, and the risk of being infected with Avid-19 was present at any moment. Their family also hesitated that they would be part of this mission because of fear of infection.
I've certainly taken into account the risk of pandemics, but I've tried to take care of them and respect the measures for protection from Covid”, says Miranda, while posing of the desire to help others was greater than fear of infection.
I've never heard of fear. On one side of the knowledge that we are younger and more protected from this virus”, Gail said, until she pointed out that her parents kept asking him if he's sure he'll do the job.
They're so scared I could get infected by Coddy. I also feared that I could get infected and then infect them”, says Gail.
Fortunately, neither Miranda nor Gail were infected by Covid-19 during their volunteer work. At the end of this story about Insider, the two had a call for others.
All those who have little time and opportunity to engage in volunteer work, do it, because there is no better feeling than seeing the faces of those who are offered help to”, Miranda said.
“An appeal to new doctors and medical students, help in any way that unless it's a very good thing for the community, it's also good for them to get a good and valid experience”, Gail said.
