Lazio has claimed that their financial department miscounted two payments worth 11m euros to Pedro Neton of Sporting Lisbon rather than to Sporting Braga because they were “delivered by similar names of clubs”.
In the summer of 2017 Pedro Neto left Sporting Braga, the club where he grew up and joined Lazio in the form of a forced purchase loan after two seasons.
Lazio did so, as he paid 5m euros directly for his borrowing and had to pay another 11 million for his final side purchase.
Finally, Lazio bought the 20-year-old and sold it to Willves for 18.3m euros. But there's a problem. The remaining 11 million euros, which had to go to the Sporting Braga account, went to the Sporting Lisbon.
The news has confirmed the Lazio club, while the club's financial office is justified in the similar name of two clubs. Two checks worth 2.5m and 8.5m euros have been reached in the Sporting Lisbon bank account.
