The woman, thought to be in her 60s, was accused of posting Facebook and YouTube audio clips with comments that were named critical to the monarchy.
Initially, an 87-year sentence had been proposed, but it was halved after it was forced to plead guilty, writes The Guardian, records Periscopi.
Under the laws of this authoritarian country, condition that “is discredited, insulting or threatening the king, the queen or their heirs” could face prison sentences of three to 15 years.
The woman in question named Anhan [name was not revealed by lawyers] was found guilty on 29 counts.
Her case is six years old, but this sentence comes as there is an attempt by authorities to come up against a group of pro-democracy activists who are challenging both the monarchy and the government. /Periscope
