In a letter sent to President Trump, Democrat Eliot Engel, chairman of the commission and Republican Michael McCaul, the commission's number two, urged the administration to launch an investigation into the Navajo attack, saying it may be necessary for sanctions to be imposed on Moscow.
Alexey Navajo, a prominent critic of President Vladimir Putin, fell ill on August 20th during a plane flight inside Russia and then moved to Germany for treatment.
The German government said on September 2nd that the results of toxicology show that the 44-year-old had been poisoned with Soviet-style nervous agent Novichok.
The Kremlin has denied any involvement in poisoning and has dismissed any charges of crime.
On Tuesday, G-7 representatives condemned the confirmed “decomposition of Navlan's”, according to a statement issued by the US State Department.
