Satellite i NASA burned in Earth's atmosphere and after years of space.
This is Geophysics Observatory 1 (OGO-1), which traveled into space in September 1964.
In the first five missions, the satellite was supposed to help scientists better understand Earth's magnetic field and OGO-1 circled around the Earth even after it stopped being useful in 1971.
On Saturday, August 29, OGO-1, weighing 187 pounds [487 kg], faced such a problem, entered the atmosphere, and burned without offering any danger.
The satellite entered the atmosphere 25 minutes earlier than predicted NASA and 160 miles south of what was expected.
Other OGO satellites continued to stay in space after the first version, but the OGO-1 remained in office longer after his descendants returned to the planet much earlier.
