Mainzi fired coach Achim Beierlorzer just 10 days after the start of the new season in Bundesliga
His dismissal comes in a week in which Mainz's players refused to be trained, as assailant Adam Szalai was suspended and ordered to find a new club.
German media say Szalai had demanded that unpaid salaries from the club ʹ that were stopped by players during the early period of the Coronavirus pandemic were now paid.
The club denied this news, saying he was suspended for sporting reasons.
Mainzi then suffered deep loss of 4:1 by Stutgart on Saturday.
Beierlorzer took the lead in November 2019. Now, he will be replaced by assistant coach Jan-Mortiz Lichte.
He's the second coach to be fired at this start season in Bundesliga, after David Wagner, who was dismissed by Schalke on Sunday.
