The first state, in his letter to President Trump, has stated that the agreement on economic normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia would not be possible without its powerful leadership and the United States of America.
This is President Thaci's letter to the American president, Donald Trump:
Dear Mr. President,
I would like to express my deep gratitude for your personal contribution to reaching the agreement on economic normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia. This agreement is the advancement of the extraordinary importance of ending the centuries-old conflict among our peoples. After decades of blockade and stagnation in negotiations, thanks to your bold leadership, we reached this historic agreement.
The people of Kosovo remain eternally grateful to the United States of America to our savior who in our darkest days stood by us and continues even today.
Let me assure you that Kosovo remains committed to lasting peace and long-term prosperity in the Western Balkans. We have worked hard these years and are prepared to contribute to world peace and security. We are also steadfast in our commitment to reaching an agreement that resolves all open issues and brings bilateral recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
It is clearer than ever, that this can only be accomplished under the powerful leadership of the United States of America. Your role in this process is vital. Kosovo is truly blessed to enjoy your firm support for fulfilling its aspirations.
Mr. President, I have the privilege, as president of the Republic of Kosovo, that in recognition of your personal contribution to Kosovo's freedom, to achieving peace, reconciliation and economic prosperity, to share the Order of Freedom.
The agreement signed at the White House would not have been possible without energy, clear intent, and direct, steadfast and loyal engagement of your national security adviser, Mr. Robert O'Brien and your special envoys, Mr. Ambassador. Richard Green. In recognition of their efforts, I also shared the Presidential Medal of Merit for Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Green, for their particular merits in reaching the historic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, signed in Washington.
On behalf of the people of Kosovo, I have the pleasure of inviting you to visit Kosovo and to be convinced of the progress you have made possible. It would be a great honor to welcome you and introduce you to the most pro-American people in the world.
