During the January-August period, the Kosovo Tax Administration has managed to realise over 302m euros in revenues, director Ilir Murtezaj has said.
But like many other institutions, ATK has faced difficulties, which has also made the implications of targets impossible.
Kosovo Tax Administration, in January-August 2020, has managed to realise 302.3m euros, tax revenues, and the 120.5m-euro pension contributions share. In fact, during this period ATK has also had its difficulties involving their goals and in realising the primary goal of implementing tax inflows for the state budget, but also other revenues that are in the direction of fighting informality”.
He says ATK, from January to March 18th, has had excellent performances, reaching even the previous plan at the beginning of the year for 3.62 per cent.
“in the January-August 2020 period we have to divide into two stages, in the pre-day period from January to March 18th, where during this period ATK has had an excellent performance by reaching out to the previous plan at the beginning of the year for 3.62%, as well as exceed the actual revenues of January-18 March 2019 for 11.2%18x1>
“After March 18th as a result of the impact of the pandemic then we had a trend of falling tax revenues as a result of pandemics and both of the finance ministry's decisions on extending the deadline for tax payment, which has made the March-prill period have a sharp decline in tax revenues, and with a return to the May-qherper period in terms of overcoming May and June, again, the July-August period is the easiest drop in revenues during this (4)1x>
Our “expectations have been that in June we have a return of tax revenues to the state budget based always on expert projections. But unfortunately, even as a result of the failure of our fellow countrymen and the bringing of emissions on their part has caused the country's economy to fade, then the other factor is the inability of the state of Kosovo to support businesses in a sense by helping the economy in this case”.
But the pandemic has also influenced tax administration to increase debt stock. Murtezaj stresses that there have been increased stock of 53m euros in debts.
And given the huge losses businesses have suffered at this time, the Kosovo Tax Administration has offered businesses ease in paying off debts.
ATK has enabled businesses to schedule their debts with payment installments.
The current period from the beginning of pandemic has caused the debt stock to rise in us. We have had an increase in debt stock of 53m euros in the period following the beginning of the pandemic in the year's beginning, enabling businesses to program their debts with payment installments, one that even businesses have welcomed this direction, and we are advancing in this direction and the January-June report shows that over this period we have doubled the value of the tax that is programmed, which have been programmed more than 100% more than in the same period of 20191%>
“We as an institution within the possibilities and legal capacities have made our actions by offering opportunities to businesses, but also in terms of remigration of the means we have advanced with the rise of the system within ATK, to identify all cases that for us like ATK do not pose a risk”, he said in an interview for EO.
