Kosovo's foreign trade data for August points to a lower trade deficit of 18.2 percent, in proportion to the same period in 2019, worth 228.9m euros, compared to the deficit of 279.9m euros last year. Export covers import by 13 percent.
So says the report “Foreign Trade, August 2020”, presented by the Kosovo Statistics Agency.

According to key export data, 21.4 percent of exports make up basic metals and articles, 16.5 percent make up various products produced, 12.7 percent make up plastics, tires, and articles of them, 12.1 percent make up prepared food, drink, and tobacco, 11.7 percent make up plants, 6.6 percent make up mineral products, and 4 percent make up the textile and its articles.
And according to key import groups' data, 12.5 percent of prepared food, drink, and tobacco, 12.3 percent of the machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, 11 percent of the basic metals, and their articles, 10.1 percent of the mineral products, 10 percent of the transport, 8.6 percent of the chemical industry products, and 7 percent of their plastics, tires, and articles.
Kosovo exports to EU countries reached 12.3m euros, or about 36.1 percent of total exports, with a 35.7 per cent increase. Germany's leading EU goods export partners are at 12.6 percent, the Netherlands at 3.3 percent, and Great Britain at 2.9 percent.
Kosovo imports from EU countries were around 117.5m euros, or 44.7 per cent of total imports, with a 26.6 per cent drop. Imports of the highest turnout were from Germany at 13.6 percent, Italy at 5.6 percent, Slovenia at 3.2 percent, and Greece at 3.1 percent.
In August 2020, Kosovo exports with CEFTA countries reached 14.7m euros, or 43 per cent of total exports, with a 6.7 per cent increase. Key export partners from CEFTA countries are Albania at 18.9 percent, North Macedonia at 9.4 percent, Serbia at 7.5 percent, and Montenegro at 5.2 percent.
While imports from CEFTA countries in August 2020 reached 52.3m euros, or 19.9 per cent of total imports, with a 10.9 per cent increase. Countries with the highest share in import were Albania and Serbia, at more than 6 percent and North Macedonia at 5.8 percent.
Kosovo exports with other countries of the world reached 7.1m euros, or 21 percent. As more important export partners, Switzerland is worth 9.6 percent.
While Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world reached 93.3m euros, or 35.5 per cent. Countries with higher import participation in the group were Turkey at 13.2 percent and China at 10.6 percent.
