Kosovo recognises war criminals by name, but Serbia does not hand over

Justice Minister Selim Selim Selimi declares there are many criminals who are hiding in Serbia, and despite the signing of the agreement in Brussels for judicial co-operation, there has been no co-operation from this state. Selimi vows that there will be priority judgment in absence for all those who committed crimes in Kosovo, and [...]
In an interview, Selimi stresses that his priority in the governing mandate is also judgment in absentia. He says that expecting a plea and the state indictment against the Serbian aggressor would be unfair to the victims, since according to him the state should prosecute criminals.
Among other things, he says each criminal will be prosecuted who committed crimes against the Albanian civilian population.
The lack trial has existed as the term before, but the Venice Commission has also given the consent to having it as the norm. But because of another law which has been wrong, it has not enabled the Special Prosecutor to prosecute war criminals who are now hiding in Serbia, and now they are judged in absentia. I've already formed the working group and now we're in the fusion phase of this House Law, which has those mistakes and obstacles in criminal procedure. In order to have an opportunity for all those criminals who committed war crimes in Kosovo to pursue and judge them in absentia. Since we have zero cooperation from Serbia. Annie why we have an agreement signed with them for judicial co-operation in Brussels, and we have submitted requests because we have information based that those criminals are hiding in Serbia. To hand them over here and, of course, to the war crimes issue in Serbia or politics, this will also give us an opportunity in our prosecutorial and judicial process to be more efficient in addressing war crimes cases”, he adds.
After two decades, Selimi says there is still no justice for 20 thousand sexually raped men and women and many others killed and massacred.
Besides, it has mentioned another disturbing phenomenon -- domestic violence. Many women, he says, are forced to return to the cycle of domestic violence. For this reason Selimi has promised assistance in resocialisation.
Because of pandemic, cases have increased to over 30 percent. And unfortunately, there were also fatalities in this area. And once we come together with the Women's Group Network and the UN Women, we've also come to an agreement that women who are in shelters who are victims of domestic violence and who are in shelters to resocialize. Because we have seen that the link that breaks the issue of treatment of this phenomenon is broken to resociation. Retailers have a wider range of workplaces that can accommodate those women depending on both academic and professional preparation, he says.
Selimi also spoke of the vetting process. The process, as he said, has been <x0 plano-political”, and that two representatives of civil society have returned to this process. According to him, however, this process has begun and is held its first meeting.
We have set October as a date when we can have a date when the options are proposed. I think October is... It may take a little longer than October, but we have decided October to have time pressure on this panel that comes up with proposals”, he added.
Justice Minister Selim Selim Selimi in an interview for Kosovo Press has also pledged the establishment of the Commercial Court. Thus, according to him, a new pillar of justice will be built, with many investors able to invest in Kosovo.
A case that I have prioritized and as part of the strategy by the end of the year is the Commercial Court. The Commercial Court is a very important enterprise for Kosovo because a whole pillar of justice will be built. We've had big problems with investors who have come here both businesses and foreign businesses, who, despite the goodwill of investments, have been prolonged in court procedures, mean they haven't solved the issues of their residential intervention in an interactive way. Why the court does not effectively solve these is a loss to businesses. Now building this pillar, the Commercial Court will give them strategies to approach the judiciary more effectively for the problems they have”, Selimi said.
