Kosovo is still considering the possibility of treating coronary-infected patients, with the blood plasma of persons who have already passed COVID-19, which causes the virus, government officials say.
Finally, American President Donald Trump announced the emergency authorisation of this method of treating patients with COVID-19.
HBA approves use of blood plasma to treat COVID-19
American experts say that blood plasma from COVID-19 survivors probably helps other infected patients recover, even though studies about this have not been final and there are still questions when this treatment should be offered, and what will be needed.
Blood disease is derived from patients who have recovered from the coronary because their blood is rich in antibodies that can fight the virus.
Transfusion of these antibodies creates what is known as passive immunity to sufferers from COVID-19.
The World Health Organization has acted carefully on the approval of COVID-19 patient bandages for people infected with coronarys, saying that the data that this function treatment is of a weak “cillians”, despite why the United States has issued urgent authorization to this therapy.
Soumya Swanminthan, scientist at O BSH has said that only a few plasma tests have yielded results and that the data so far has not been enough convincing that this therapy is used beyond experiments.
According to her, though some tests have shown results, the same have been small and the data is not comprehensive.
In Kosovo since March 13th, when the first cases with the Coronavirus were recorded until August 24th, 12,547 cases were infected with coronarys. Of them, 8,657 patients have recovered and 3,410 cases continue to be active.
Faik Hoti, spokesman at the Ministry of Health, in a conversation for Radio Free Europe, says the issue of the possibility of treating patients with the blood of the cured is under consideration.
But, according to him, the ministry must first make the decision to allow the use of this treatment, at the same time adopt the protocol to use the blood plasma of healed persons.
Blood separation from plasma is made into blood transfusions.
Beauty Zhubi, director of the National Centre for Blood Transfusion, told Radio Free Europe, “that we are in procedures to examine the possibility of using blood plasma (convulsive plasma), as research drug”.
It shows that procedures should be allowed first, then collected convulsive plasma, and in this direction, Zhubi says, is working.
Even though it has not yet begun with finding potential donors, Faik Hoti, hopes they will find healed persons, as their numbers have exceeded over 8,000.
The method of treatment through plasma has been applied consistently to many diseases within the QKUK Infectious Clinic. Some infections at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo claim they are ready for such a procedure if the decision is taken by competent authorities.
Infectologist Shemsedin Dreshey says they are prepared for the use of plasma that donors and there is no problem in the matter.
Dress, meanwhile, says that the method of treating coronary-infected patients with blood plasma of people who have passed COVID-19 should result successfully.
“While approved by the US Food and Bars Administration as a procedure to treat patients with COVID-19, I think this will be possible to implement without any problems, if the technical and professional capacities of the Kosovo National Blood Transfusion Centre follow that”, Dreshai points out.
Beauty Zhubi shows that in the event of making the decision to treat such a treatment, transfusion is available because the procedure is the same as the common blood donor.
