Karacheva residents demand that the state take care of their security: Serbian Gendarmeria Enters 19 Years

Residents of the village of Karacheva today have protested the entrance of the Serbian gendarmerie to this village. The head of Karacheva village's Local Council, Selver Lenjan, said that from 2001 until now on Kosovo's territory have repeatedly entered members of the Serbian gendarmerie, and the last patrol has not occurred for the first time.

The criticism of nonparticipation in this protest, Lenyan, has also addressed the mayor of Kamenica, Central Kastrati.

He called on Serbian institutions to stop provocations in this part of Kosovo.

Lenjan said that after the recent reactions to the Serbian gendarmerie's entry into Karadcheva, Kosovo Police patrols have been added to this side.

Karacheva village's oldest resident, Ismajl Kastrati, said the Serbian enemy is trying to take this part of Kosovo land.

He said the provocations of the Serbian gendarmerie are meant to have these residents displaced from this village.

This usurpation that Serbia has made here is planned so that these two local communities, which are here to leave their homeland, leave and be the empty administrative border and not have the Albanian population. The former mayor of Kamenica municipality, Shaip Surdul, who is also resident of this side, sought to provide security from Kosovo institutions for all these residents of this border area.

Supporting the protesters also emerged to former Kosovo delegation Gec, who said it is time for Kosovo institutions to take responsibility for this part.

According to him, capacity should be built for border generation protection with Serbia.

“The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, instead of dealing with the establishment of capacity for border generation protection, rising capacity of KSF and the Kosovo Police, they deal with protecting individuals. Millions of euros have been allocated to protect some individuals who will respond to the Special Court, while no means for protecting the border generation has been shared. War time has passed, now we have institutions, they must take over from the president, the prime minister, the Kosovo Assembly must take responsibility for this”, he said.

Since the post-war residents of Karacheva have demanded that management of this area be taken under the competency of Kosovo institutions, as this part is managed by KFOR. The latter were seen overseeing today's protest.
