Described as the pride of Kosovo boxing, Xhevdet Peci was among the most meritive for five titles Pristina has won in the former Yugoslavia.
But Kosovo institutions seem to have forgotten his contribution to the sport, leaving it with a pension of only 90 euros.
Peci, decorated with “The Presidential Medal of Merit” in boxing by Atifete Jahjaga in 2014, says he has to live with only 90 euros.
“Yes, only 90 euros, so much and nothing more” - he said a few days ago.
In this regard today, former president of the Kosovo Box Federation Ramadan Selimi has also reacted, saying that he feels sorry for Peci, saying valuable athletes should be protected and not neglected.
It's a pity to hear about a sport as big as Jevdet Peci, who at his age, will have a pension of only 90 euros.
It's a big disappointment for younger generations, I could also call it demotive, for sportsmen who claim to be champions like Jevdet Peci. I join most of those reactions in sports figures, which is really a big shame, as you have called “Kosovo boxing father” to come to this state, when you know that that money is not enough for cigarettes, and let alone other vital things.
