A new test project, which will enable women to play in the male headquarters in the Netherlands, has been approved today by the Netherlands Football Federation (KNVB).
The Dutch Federation has granted permission to a 19-year-old female Ele Fekkeman to join the VV Fair team, which competes in the fourth category of 2020/21 season.
This promotional project can cause regulations to change and women to be allowed forever to play in the Men's A football category.
“KNVB supports the diversity and equality”, the chief of development in the Dutch football governing body, Art Langeler, has said.
“We believe that each should have space in any way in football”, he added.
He has said the federation accepts requests every year to allow women to play for the first men's teams.
Mixed football in the Netherlands was introduced in 1986 and current regulations allow girls to play for men's teams under 19-year-old age groups.
