New basketball season start in Kosovo

The Kosovo Basketball Federation board (FBK), viewing recent developments with the COVID-19 pandemic, given its statuteal competencies today, has unanimously decided to postpone the start of the new edition in basketball 2020/21.

The new basketball edition has been scheduled to begin in 16,09.2020 with the Kosovo Super Cup matches in both competitions and then proceed with the 2020-2021 edition competition.

The FBK board has decided to postpone the start of the new edition for a month, more precisely for the new edition to begin at 14,10.2020, when the Super Cup of Kosovo matches will also be organised. Playout matches will also be postponed for a month.

This decision has been made by seeing the current state of COVID-19 in our country, but also after consultations with relevant local authorities and in accordance with the guidelines of health professionals with the first and foremost health of players, trainers, sports workers and all acts involved in organising basketball competitions, as well as the characteristics of our sports”, the decision is said.

And we expect our institutions depending on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic to make a decision to allow the development of exercises so that our clubs can start slowly, but we are certain to prepare for the new edition”.

The Kosovo Basketball Federation has prepared the Basketball Guide to the Basketball Fields (verse 3.0) and the moment the Government of the Republic of Kosovo makes a decision to allow the development of exercises (and then competitions), then the FBK will equip all its members with this Guide, which will be a guide for maintaining the health of all basketball players, team officials, match officials and all the basketball community in our country.
