Terrible: Russia, China block humanitarian aid to Syria by veto UN

Russia and China, two of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, have used veto rights to prolong Turkey's approval of humanitarian aid to Syria for another year, despite UN warnings that the lives of Syrian civilians depend on access to future supplies. [...]
The humanitarian operation that started more than six years ago is authorised to take place only until Friday. All 13 other states that are members of this body voted in favour of the resolution drafted by Germany and Belgium.
The Security Council will now vote for a rival Russian text, with which only a Turkish crossing for access to aid would be approved for six months. During the pandemic, the Security Council has operated only virtually, meaning that member states have 24 hours to cast their ballot around the resolution.
UN Secretary General Stephanie Dujaric's spokesman, said Tuesday that access to foreign aid is vital to the welfare of civilians in the northwestern part of Syria and that people's lives depend on them, writes “Reuters”, the Express broadcasts.
In January of this year, the Security Council had allowed the development of the humanitarian operation from two Turkish crossings for six months, but had removed the crossings from Iraq and Jordan because of opposition from Russia and China, which are allies of the Syrian regime and dictator Bashar al-Assad.
