Two days before the next meeting between Kosovo and Serbia, Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has tried to gather leaders of all political parties. But only four parliamentary parties have responded to him, whose leaders have sent low political representatives.
Without the presence of the two largest opposition parties -- LVV and PDK -- Hoti at the government facility -- came to the meeting his co-party in the LDK, Agim Veliu, AAK Justice Minister Selim Selim Selimi, Secretary General of the Initiative Bilall Sheriff, as well as AKR member Jtlir Zymberaj.
In addition to the initiative's former delegation, all of these, including Prime Minister Hoti, refused to be declared before the media, despite a wait of about two hours.
The Secretary of the Initiative, Bilall the Sheriff after the meeting, stressed that Kosovo should not slip into technical dialogue, as this, according to him, drags the final process of mutual recognition.
On behalf of the Initiative, I requested that the Kosovo government, the prime minister, remain this pledge we have had since the beginning of the establishment of this coalition. Do not slip into technical dialogue, it would be wrong if Kosovo returns in 2011. Yes, dialogue on specific topics in the function of resolving the issue and the Kosovo and Serbia report, rather than getting into endless processes, as you know better than we do, than convey political developments. It wants to start an endless process and Serbia to move towards new chapters, while Kosovo remains at the level of non-visa liberalisation. That is what I said on behalf of the Initiative, the prime minister vowed that he would not slip into technical dialogue, but that he should still talk about all these topics in the function of mutual recognition. If there is no agreement for recognition, there is no agreement for anything”, he said.
In contrast, the Sheriff said his party does not think it should move on the road to appointing a co-ordinator for dialogue, if his field of action is to deal with technical dialogue.
The intervals we've had before turn us into technical dialogue, that's not what Kosovo needs. What will be the mandate and tasks of a co-ordinator remains to explain to the prime minister first, coalition partners, opposition and then citizens. Whether that is the way to go first should be established by Mr Mustafa, Mr Limaj, Haradinaj and in co-operation with the prime minister. The initiative doesn't think it should go that way, that we're sure we're dealing with the same movie we've seen since 2011 and we're dealing with the same actor and director”, the Sheriff added.
Prime Minister Hoti, who chose the social network Facebook to declare after this meeting, said that “this process should end with normalisation of relations between the two countries and mutual recognition”.
The whole process of dialogue will be fully transparent, while the Kosovo Assembly, the Forum of political parties and widespread opinion in the country will be announced in detail for each meeting. All representatives of the country's political parties represented at the forum today gave full support to the political dialogue process with Serbia”, Hoti concluded.
