Former President Rugova's family: We believe in Thaci's innocence and Wessel

The family of former Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova has reacted to the establishment of the prosecution's specialised indictment of President Hashim Thaci and PDK President Kadri Veselini, writes IndexOnline.

From this family, they have recalled some important words by Rugova regarding war crimes in Kosovo.

President Rugova's Family Declaration:

As a family of Kosovo's historic president, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, with great concern we are conveying the latest developments in Kosovo, related to claims of possible Aktakuza by the Specialised Prosecutor, to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and former Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli.

In the trial of Slobodan Milosevic, the leader of Serbia and the architect of all crimes and tragedies in Kosovo, at The Hague's Tribunal for War Crimes, Kosovo President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, in the quality of the witness, said among other things:

I have worked and believed for peaceful solution (of the Kosovo issue) for more than ten years, but then the other option has appeared, lacking results. U n The CK, as I stressed, came in expression in response to the violence exercised in Kosovo for a long period. This has been an organization composed of citizens who responded to violence with the aim of gaining people's freedom. That was their goal.

President Rugova, in his testimony at The Hague Tribunal, has given his extraordinary political explanation of the historic course in Kosovo of the nine years, whitewashing in the most obvious possible way who was a aggressor and an occupationist, and who was a victim in Kosovo.

These historical flows culminated in 1998, 1999, with the KLA war,
The people of Kosovo and of our great friends, the US and the states of the North-Atlantic Alliance, for the liberation of Kosovo.

Unfortunately, twenty-more years after the war ended, power in Serbia has not accepted this tragic history of Kosovo, caused by it.

President Rugova has had very special co-operation with Hashim Thaci, within the framework of the Kosovo Delegation at the Ramboullett Pacific Conference.

Only such political unity under the Kosovo Movement for Independence has been able to bring about the Ramboullett Agreement, without which Kosovo would never be released.

President Rugova, even after the war, under the construction of Kosovo's democratic institutions, has insisted on cultivating political co-operation, separately when it comes to topics of great interest in the country, as was the Vienna Process for resolving Kosovo's status.

Here again President Rugova and Hashim Thaci, then as chairman of The PDK has been together, within the framework of the Unity Team, with the goal of achieving Kosovo's independence.

As a family of Kosovo's historic president, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, we are convinced that Kosovo's glorious history of the nineth years, which brought the liberation of Kosovo, and then, its independence, has demonstrated the highest values of the people of Kosovo, and has joined Kosovo with the US and with Europe.

Nobody and nothing can change this story.
In this context, we believe in the innocence of President Thaci and former Speaker of the Parliament Kadri Wessel.
