Social media platform “Facebook” has put the European Commission before court because of the requirements for information from the EU executive arm, which it considers too invasive.
The EU Commission has launched two antitrust investigations for the behaviour of “Facebook” about company data practices and its market platform.
“The extremely broad nature of the Commission's demands means that we will be required to hand over largely insignificant documents, which have no connection with the Commission's investigations, including very sensitive personal information”, said Tim Lamb, the FB's competition lawyer, the ATS.
This information includes employee medical information, personal financial documents. We think such requests should be reviewed by EU courts”, he added.
The EC announced it would defend its case in court and that the investigation into “Facebook” continues.
