Mitrovica municipality deputy leader Faruk Mujka has now said it is a fact that the virus has taken off in Mitrovica.
He, citing the ongoing cases are increasing, has indicated there are 101 active cases in Mitrovica.
Among other things, Mujka confirmed that from Mitrovica there are 31 health workers and 10 police officers who have been infected during these times doing their job.
Read Mujka's full reaction:
Dear fellow citizens.
I would like to address you as deputy head of the municipality but with a greater heart as your fellow citizen without wanting to lecture you but simply share some information and thoughts with you.
Now it's a fact that even in our town of COVID 19, I've begun to take off at the top of the number of people affected by the virus is growing by day.
We have 190 fellow citizens diagnosed with COVID 19.
84 of them have already recovered, and today we have 101 active cases. Unfortunately, during this time we lost five fellow citizens who failed to overcome the virus and expressed condolences to all their loved ones who lost their most loved ones in this period.
In their work of helping citizens, 31 health workers have also been infected (Mjek, technician, driver, maintenance) and 10 members of the Kosovo Police. Fortunately, Monday will all be back on the front lines in the 19th COVID fight line.
Our community, thanks to the very professional work of Emergency Staff and the high awareness of citizens, has managed the situation relatively well, given available means and lack of information on this pandemic.
Mitrovica is at permanent risk if we take into account that we are a regional centre, a large number of our fellow citizens work in Pristina and travel daily on visits, numerous family ties with Skenderaj's Vushtre and the uncontrollable situation in the northern part of the city.
As a result, we need to increase care, but just learn to live together with COVID 19. However, safeguards should be made, but it is as if it affects lifestyle disorder. Even our predecessors have faced similar problems, but they have always shown their vitality and come out stronger than those challenges.
The main thing is to maintain mental health, and the belief that this situation is immediate, extreme, and the consequences will be minimal.
Of course this situation has mostly affected the private sector, especially gastronomy, and now we have a very electrifying situation that requires a very careful approach from everyone.
Dear fellow citizens, in this unprecedented situation, I appeal to understand, respect, and help one another.
I guess in two months this is just gonna sound like a bad dream.
