A fan of the Universitataea Cluj team has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for trying to kill a police officer during last year's pletophy game in Romania's elite.
Vidrean Ovidiu Traian has been found guilty of attempted murder after he shot the police in the back of the seat, leaving him unconscious and covered in blood, during the match held a year ago against AFC Hermannstad's team in Clui Arena.
The incident occurred during the clash between University fans and police. Fans have thrown seats, stones and other things towards police, Reuters reported.
Many local fans had passed until the end of the exhibition to express their frustration over what they praised as police brutality, following the entrance of University fans into the field.
Traian has also been ordered to pay 18 thousand euros for the damages, said a communiqué of the Clouji court. The decision is not final and can be appealed.
