Ronaldinho spoke of “Mundo Deportivo” from a hotel in Paraguay, where he has been performing bail since 8 April, when he was released. He is currently under house arrest, along with his brother. Both suffered a month's detention after being charged with entering false passports at the Asunción International Airport, the capital of Paraguay.
Now the Brazilian legend has broken the silence and referred to various subjects in this brief interview. He starts from Barcelona and his former colleagues: Barcelona always treated me with a lot of love and respect. My former colleagues (such as Puyol or Ronaldo) know me well and know it wasn't an easy time. Their words were important. They supported me to get out of this storm as soon as possible.
Ronaldino also relates his current situation: We're running it into a hotel. They treat us very well here. We're cool, though it's been 60 days long. We do sports, we practice at the gym. People in their homes should imagine what happens if they can't do what they're used to. This will stay with us forever, as we are living in a complicated” experience.
A few words on the Pandemia of Covid-19 and the return of football: We're living a pandemic, which makes us think about the next season. The current season has been completely compromised. Not playing for so long, imagining empty stadiums and not having that energy, that fans give you... We're going to have to adapt to this new normal”.
Despite the complex situation, his smile as “falted” is not missing: “has not always been easy, but I have tried to radiate happiness and joy. I've done what I'm most attracted to: play soccer. I was sad when I couldn't make people happy again”.
Finally, word of eternal love for the Catalan club: Me and Barcelona are united forever. It'll be my second city. It's the most incredible club and his fans remain in my heart. Football is unique, a truly global phenomenon. It has always opened my doors, even in many moments, when everything seemed difficult or impossible. This sport took me to Barcelona to fulfill my dreams. If there is something that characterizes him, it is no doubt his joy and his smile both inside and outside of field”.
