Since the first group of coronavirus cases was reported in China last December, scientists have competed to better understand the highly contagious disease, COVID-19, and how to stop the spread.
As already known, coronavirus is transmitted from person to person through direct contact, saliva points during coughing, or “unloading” from the nose when you sneeze.
But there's an ongoing scientific debate and research about the transport passed by asimtomatic carriers, writes Al Jazeera, sent in the Telegraph.
What's an asimptomatic?
Asimtomaticly, it means that a person is infected by the virus but does not feel sick or show any symptoms.
This is different from a pre-simtomatic, which means that a person does not show symptoms in early stages of the disease, but develops them later.
For those who are not asimtomatic, the time between infection and the onset of symptoms can range from one to 14 days, while most infected persons show symptoms within five to six days.
According to the World Health Organisation (OBSH), the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, fatigue and a dry cough. Some patients may have pain, sore throat pain, diarrhea, or wind loss or taste.
Can people spread coronavrus asimtomatics?
The general consensus among health officials and experts is: Yeah.
O The BSH has confirmed that asimtomatic people can transmit COVID-19, but more research is required to determine the extent of transmission.
Dr. Nahed Ussman, president of the Association of Pakistani North American Doctors (APPNA), told Al Jazeera: “Asimtomatic people in general are not being examined, at least in the United States. They can certainly spread the disease”.
How can the asmptomatics transport the virus?
Like symptoms and pre-imptomatic cases, astonmatic people can spread the virus in many ways, including through saliva, coughing and sneezing.
The infection can also be passed through direct contact with others or by polluting surfaces and objects.
When you speak, you will sometimes spit a little”, says Anne Rimoin, a professor of epidemiology at University of California School of Public Health, Los Angeles.
You'll rub your nose. You'll touch your mouth. You'll rub your eyes. And then you're going to touch other surfaces, and then you're going to spread the”.
Are the amptomatic carriers-19 less contagious?
This remains unclear and requires more research.
Based on current evidence, WHO says that individuals who are asemtomatically infected are less likely to transmit the virus than those who develop symptoms, writes Al Jazeera.
And Dr. Usman agrees.
She said: “If infectiousness is linked to the dose of exposure to the virus, then the asimtomatic carriers will penetrate the lowest strain of”.
How Can You Protect Yourself?
It is recommended that you wash your hands often with soap and water, keep clean surfaces and objects, and wear facial masks, especially in crowded places.
When possible, keep a safe distance between you and others, especially if they cough and sneeze and avoid touching your face, eyes, and mouth with dirty hands.
