Iraqi football legend Ahmed Radi has passed away on Sunday at the age of 57, following complications caused by the Coronavirus, the Iraqi Health Minister has announced.
Ahmed Radi was hospitalised in Baghdad a week earlier, testing positive for COVID-19. He left Thursday when his health improved.
But that improvement was short-lived, and he returned to the hospital on the same day.
Raji is one of the best goalsmen of the Iraqi National, while marking Iraq's only goal in the 1986 World Cup against Belgium (1:2).
He had fled Iraq to Jordan in 2006, but was back after a year to engage in politics.
Iraq has officially recorded 30,000 cases of infection, while changing lives over a thousand people.
