Liverpool reacts strongly to fans who broke social deregulation rules by appearing at one of the city's centres to celebrate the winning champion title after 30 years.
5,000 fans of The Reds could not hold back their joy by gathering in the square and celebrating but, as read in the Liverpool communiqué, their move could increase the number of people affected by COVID-19, in the province of Mercedes.
“Thousands of people gathered in “Pierre Head” Square on June 26th, and some of them ignored social distance measures. Our city is still in a public health crisis and this behavior is completely unacceptable. The potential danger of a second score of COVID-19 exists and we have to work together to make sure everything achieved during the region's impasse will not be undone. When the situation is right, we will all work to organize a victory parade where everyone can come to celebrate together. Until then, the safety of our city and our people follows to be the number one priority for us”, It says in the English club's statement.
