Sad news from the sports world. The two talented Italian swimmers, Fabio Lombini and Gioele Rossetti, lost their lives yesterday as a result of the crash of a private plane near Rome.
They were 22 and 23. Together they were flying, and media reports that one of them was piloting the small plane. 30 seconds after takeoff, the plane caught fire and crashed fatally on the ground with fatal consequences for both swimmers.
Fabio Lombini was working on the qualification for the Tokyo Olympics this year. All of Italy has experienced this sad news very badly. Police have immediately launched an investigation into the event, and at least so far are suspected of technical defects in the aircraft.
