Two days earlier, Timo Werner was reported to have reached agreement with Chelsea, and only after the end of Bundesliga, was expected to be introduced to “londies”, but the National Director of Leipzig, the club that has the German card, has denied such an agreement.
Oliver Mintzlaff, in a statement issued to the media at the conclusion of yesterday's meeting with Paderborn, has said that no club has so far knocked on the German club's offices to express Werner's clause payment readiness.
Our primary aim was renovation with Werner, since we are a new club and we cannot afford to lose players with zero parameters. We did so last year, placing a 60m euro clause worth July 15th. Now Werner is free to negotiate and choose his own future, but I can tell you that no club has yet expressed readiness to pay the clause. The attacker himself had announced a few weeks ago that he is negotiating a transfer, but so far nothing concrete. We have recently talked about matches and how we manage to secure a place in the Champutones area, nothing more”, Leipzig Sports Director said.
Timo Werner is followed by Liverpool, Inter and Chelsea, while in his contract with Leipzig, a clause allowing him to leave in exchange for 650m euros -- a figure that can be paid by either of these three clubs -- so the solution remains in the hands of the German assailant.
