Singapore's Grand Prize, set for September 20th, cannot be held by closed doors. The news has revealed “Straits Times”, the city-state daily, under which organisers have questioned the development of the 16th 2010 Forum World Calendar contest, which has been shaken many times so far because of the RS-19 pandemic that included the entire world sport.
It is not possible to hold the closed-door race. Although the top priority remains the welfare and security of our fans, volunteers and all citizens of Singapore”, a spokesman has explained. Last year's contest in Marina Bay circus has been attended by 268,000 spectators over three days. Currently, Singapore accounts for nearly 27,000 coronary cases, and the government has ordered the lockdown to the national level that should last until 1 June.
Forum 1 currently intends to begin the 2020 championship in July, with competitions in Austria and Great Britain to be held by closed doors. So far, three Grand Emmas have been cancelled (Australia, France, Monaco), and seven others have moved (Azerbaagean, Bahrain, Canada, China, Spain, Holland and Vietnam). GP Singapore organisers, however, have clarified that they are keeping open the dialogue with Liberty Media.
