For more than two months, a young Syrian is staying at a hospital in Pristina. He suffered leg injuries the moment he entered Kosovo. His desire is to continue traveling to Western European countries.
The 23-year-old Ahmad Zakaria from the town of Homs in Syria has fled his country because of the war.
Kosovo's territory was illegally introduced at the end of February. He hurt his feet after jumping from a height once he entered Kosovo.
Since then, he has been pretending at the Orthodox Clinic in Pristina.
I have fled Syria to look for a safer place, where I find work even where I have a comfortable life. I didn't have any intention of going anywhere, I just went out looking for a place where I can find a job and feel myself safe and my family feels my safety”, he relates.
Away from his family, he is fasting Ramadan. He says the care of the medical staff has caused him not to be afraid of coronary.
His dream was to study the builder, but he is not planning to return to continue his studies in his hometown.
I'm not thinking about going back to Syria right now, I don't know if I'm going back there. There is no war in the city where I grew up, but there is no security for young people”, he says.
Since the beginning of this year and so far, about 670 migrants have entered Kosovo. They exploit Kosovo as a transitary country on their way to Western European countries.
