Nuri has been one of the best friends of the other Ayax star, Hakim Zijeh, who in a recently given interview has indicated that he suffered badly when he couldn't have his friend in the dressing rooms.
Zijeh, however, has told of the special gesture Ayax has made so that he can always feel close to Nur. What happened to Nouri had a huge impact on me. I always stayed closer to him in the dressing rooms. When he suffered that blow, I had to stay without him in the dressing rooms, something that was very difficult for me.
Yet we decided to keep his country free forever. For a year his jacket stood there to remind us that he's always with us. That made me feel close to him, seeing his jacket, I felt he was inside me.
