Kadri Veselin's party stresses that the letter sent by the dismissed prime minister Kurti is a violation of the principle of separation of powers. The text of that letter should be considered a serious violation of the independence of the country's highest institution, which makes the final interpretation of the founding act of the state of Kosovo.
“This attack is not an isolated case, but it is a continuation of attacks by the lowest that Kurti and his party Vetevendosje have been making over the past years against this important institution of our state”, the PDK communiquent said.
This subject stresses that the Vetevendosje Movement has not only attacked the Constitutional Court of Kosovo many times, but also set the dangerous precedent of not implementing a decision made by it, as did its act of judgment on March 31, 2020. It has also organized individual attacks on judges.
Attempting to influence through threats, blackmail, hate speech and violence in the decision of the Constitutional Court institution but also of other independent institutions is already a known practice of Vetevendosje Movement.
“Therefore, the Democratic Party of Kosovo calls on the dismissed prime minister Kurti to give up the pressures, attacks, hackers or threats he is making to the Constitutional Court and to each other independent institution.
It also invites all political parties and state institutions to respect the Constitutional Court's decisions without exception, respecting the independence and authority of this institution.
Only in this way can we protect the democratic and constitutional order of our state and guarantee the rule of law in Kosovo”, the communique points out.
