Northern Macedonia, pandemic significantly increased internet sales

Corona virus pandemic has led people in northern Macedonia to replace the traditional way of buying by buying products on the internet. In the past period, more food products have been purchased through the Internet.

So supermarkets and internet dealers have grown to 8 to 9 times more.

“We are especially pleased as the association that in this period even the elderly are buying through the internet, there have been transactions of people over the age of 65 who buy online. In early March, internal data showed that some clients have bought canned food”, says Victor Stojkoski .

All banks in northern Macedonia offer electronic banking services for paying water, electricity and other expenses. From the banking sector, Coronavirus has increased transactions, but there are still no official figures.

In registered northern Macedonia, there are 1,080 stores selling online. Citizens have previously made 6.5 billion online transactions, spending 174m euros on online services.
