The Democratic League of Kosovo has reacted to yesterday's gathering of over 400 people in the square, who, as the police have confirmed, have not received permission to do so.
This is the full response:
In the days when the battle with COVIID-19 was challenged by significant increases in the number of affected, and when institutions warn that relief of restrictive measures could be postponed, in Pristina's main square, surrounded by police tape, which are set not to allow the movement of citizens, Kosovo's fired government, Kosovo Police, as well as Pristina's Community, to allow a scandalous maneuver of a political party.
This evidence of the protest of around 500 party militants, hiding behind civil society organisations, in addition to being a clear indication of intervention and pressure on the country's independent courts, is a real demonstration of the tendency for the country's new capture of state and constitutional bodies.
While, in recent days, hundreds of citizens in the entire territory of the country have been arrested for contempt of measures, being fined, handcuffed and arrested family, farmers and farmers in Pristina on Tuesday, the government, Shpend Ahmeti Police, were silent. They kept silent those who had dozens of times called on citizens to respect the masses.
It is unacceptable to allow such a massive gathering at a time when no country in the world permits such gatherings. It is unacceptable for citizens to be arrested for the same actions, and to remain silent for militants and activists of the ruling party.
Kosovo's banned government, from yesterday, no longer has any reason to call citizens for respect of anti-pronged measures COVID-19.
The outgoing government has chosen escape from yesterday. From yesterday, party interests have been placed on public health interest, in which it has been called much recently. The outgoing government, consciously, yesterday has violated the measures it itself has imposed, as if for its own purposes he twice violated the country's Constitution, as well as knowingly bypassed the Kosovo Assembly.
The case of the mass gathering should not be held silent, so the LDK seeks independent and fair investigation so that those responsible should be held accountable. Kosovo should be guided based on its constitutional norm. Despite threats of destabilising a political party, which has done something else for Kosovo.
The LDK is sure that even this time around, no one will be able to stop Kosovo's transformational path, as it has not been able to stop any process that has brought Kosovo where it is. It stays with Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
