This warning came as protesters prepared for other demonstrations Wednesday when lawmakers began debate on the contractive bill to criminalise the mockery and taunt of the Chinese national anthem, writes The Guardian, as carried out in Albanian Periscope.
In an interview for Chinese state television, Chen Daoxiang, commander of the Hong Kong National Liberation Army garrison, said the army had “preparedness, confidence and the ability to protect national security” in the city.
Despite international speculation, protests on Sunday and other protests scheduled for this week, Hong Kong and Beijing authorities have refused to withdraw from Friday's statement to impose national security laws.
Hong Kong Executive Chief Carrie Lam said he gave full support to such an action and that Hong Kong had not been able to pass the bill in question for 23 years, and that it was impossible for this to happen in the near future. /Periscope
