The biotechnology company Curevac has published the first data for its Corona vaccine project.
The vaccine has positive results in pre-clinic studies in low doses, the company from Tübingen said. The data presented showed a well-balanced immune response “associated with the formation of a high number of neutralized strains of (VNT) and T” cells.
The VNT is a key indicator that vaccine can produce a strong immunological response to neutralise Sars-CoV-2, Curevac said in its launch. The vaccine has not yet been tested on humans. In June, Curevac plans to start clinical studies with healthy participants. Curevac's vaccine is one of many currently being investigated.
Numerous research groups and companies worldwide are currently working on a vaccine against Sars-CoV-2. More than 80 concepts are recorded in WHO. Scientists hope for rapid success because they are relying on new concepts of vaccines that accelerate both the development and later production.
