The Ford Motor company on Wednesday temporarily closed two factories in the United States, while the coronary pandemic hit heavily the plans of America's number two car manufacturer to resume the production of its most profitable vehicles in North America.

The Ford company closed its factory in Dearborn, Michigan, because an employee resulted positive with COVID-19, while her factory in Chicago was shut down due to a lack of parts, said company spokeswoman Kelly Felker.

Ford refused to find out which supplier had problems, but a person familiar with the issue told Reuters news agency that the Lear Corporation had closed a factory in Hammond, Indiana. The Lear Corporation later confirmed on an email that it had closed the plant due to an employee's infection with COVIDD-19.

This is the second day the Ford company was forced to close its factory in Chicago. On Tuesday, Ford closed its factory in Chicago after two employees at different times also resulted in positive with Covid-19. The factories in Dearborn and Chicago are expected to resume production very soon, spokeswoman Flicker said.

Workers in Dearborn and Chicago were infected outside the workplace, Mrs. Flicker said. The Dearborn factory produces the lucrative F-150 truck, while the one in Chicago produces Ford Explorer and Lincoln Avivator.

The American auto industry, including Ford, reopened many factories Monday after a long closure due to the coronary pandemic. Ford and other car producers and their parts put new security measures on the coronarys in their factories, including health controls of employees entering the building, using masks and physical distance in production lines where possible.

The reopening of factories is a closely being followed to see if employees on a wide range of American industries will be able to return to the plant in a large number without renewing fears of rising infections.

General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV companies said on Wednesday they had had had no problem at their factories in North America.
