Swiss tennis star Federer has won $106.3m in the last 12 months, including 100 million through advertising agreements. Federer has advanced four positions and has become the first of his sports to hit the top of the list.
Footballers Cristino Ronaldo (105m), Messi (104) and Neymar (95.5) and American basketball player LeBron James (88.2) take their place in the first five.
