Four officers were involved in his capture and one of them kept his foot on Floyd's neck constantly.
The man died but tried to warn the police that he could not breathe. He died on his way to the hospital.
Violent protests continued.
According to CNN, there are protests in five cities. In Minneapolis, protesters set a police building on fire.
City officials are urging protesters near a burning police station to step back because explosive materials are in the building.
There were protests and violence in Kentucky.


The chief of police in Minneapolis apologized to the family of the person who died in their hands.
And now four police officers in Minneapolis were fired for Floyd's death after the video came out of the scene.
The view shows Floyd handcuffed on the floor with his face down, complaining, asking for help and repeating, “Please, I cannot breathe”
Wednesday evening, protesters in the city clashed with police using tear gas for the second night in a row.
The riots, accompanied by looting and vandalism, began hours after President Jacob Frey called on prosecutors to present a trial against a white police officer who knocked Floyd down on the sidewalk.
The police chief said most protesters were not violent, but that there was a group of protesters focused on causing riots.
The Justice Department said an investigation into police involvement in Floyd's death was already a priority.
