The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Kadri Vesello, has reacted strongly to violating Kosovo's sovereignty in the northern part, with the consent of the outgoing government.
At Conference for Journalists, Head of The PDK, said Serbia's yesterday act, which extended its state of emergency to parts of Kosovo, including Belgrade's directive into quarantine and separated from the rest of the country, the two municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, Northern Mitrovica and Zvecanin, is a serious violation of sovereignty.
He said the outgoing government, in addition to silence over the situation, has left the country's north and all Albanian citizens and other non-Serb communities, in the hands of a state that neither loves nor protects.
Wessel said months ago in the Kosovo Assembly he had warned of the danger this prime minister would return Serbia to Kosovo.
PDK chairman Kadri Wessel's full statement:
I've been forced to call this conference as a major concern for community security, about what's happening in the north.
Serbia's current act, which extended its state of emergency to our country by introducing Belgrade's direction to quarantine and separate from the rest of the country, two municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, Northern Mitrovica and Zvecanin, is a serious violation of sovereignty
For weeks this outgoing government has not responded to the deployment in northern Kosovo of the Belgrade-bound police hour.
In addition to the silence of this situation, this government has left the country's north and all our citizens, Albanians and other non-Serb communities, in the hands of a state that neither loves nor protects.
But what makes this situation more alarming is the fact that this government has also approved, with secret agreements, the introduction of hundreds of Serbian state officials, where not all are health personnel.
This government on the run is doing the most serious act of surrender-capitalisation of a part of our territory.
This dismissed prime minister should not be allowed to proceed with these serious mistakes in succession.
Therefore, the Democratic Party of Kosovo calls on all state institutions to take urgent measures to restore sovereignty in the north.
Similarly, this dangerous situation necessarily requires the Security Council meeting to treat this situation with the maximum seriousness.
In the Kosovo Parliament, I have warned the danger that this prime minister will return Serbia to Kosovo.
This is risking happening faster than I could have imagined.
But let him know, he and all others, Serbia will never return to Kosovo again.
