Tahiri: Decisions without co-ordination with municipalities produce major consequences

The chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Xhafer Tahiri, has unilaterally called the Government's recent decisions on limiting the movement from April 15th, saying that such a thing cannot be undertaken without co-ordination with municipalities. He speaks out against new measures related to limiting the movement, as there are still villages in Kosovo that have no one infected with coronary.

While joining the Kosovo Communist Association response, which reportedly did not consult the mayors for measures taken last night by the Ministry of Health, chairman Tahiri says today in the municipality he leads has caused chaos by citizens due to panic.

The mayor of Vushtrri, in an interview for Kosova Prees, says there are 23 cases so far confirmed in this municipality with Covid-19, where four of them have recovered.

There are 23 citizens affected by COVID-19 from whom four have recovered. So there are 19 citizens who are positive with COVID-19, or otherwise known as Corleone. We pray that everyone will recover as soon as possible and return to normal life, and that the whole city will return to normal life. As municipal emergency headquarters, we are in constant contact with patients and their families to provide needed support. Also, as headquarters we have taken a series of measures that we believe will facilitate the lives of citizens, aimed at preventing the spread of the virus in our town of”, Tahiri said.

He says that in this pandemic situation, municipalities and government must co-operate so that measures can be implemented, otherwise there can be consequences.

Pre-unilateral decisions without normal consultation that are most difficult to implement, and normally produce larger consequences. I was contacted by the minister of health for other occasions. On Sunday we had the decision to restrict movement from five to six o'clock. Then, immediately, another decision was made the next day. I think we all need to coordinate as much as possible to limit the movement already. Today the city of Vushtrri is in chaos. There are a very large number of people in the city, there are very long lines ahead of banks, markets, as people are caught in surprise and there are panic that is not necessary in this period”, Tahiri said.

Among other things, he says it is part of the Kosovo Communist Association's stance to withdraw the decision on new movement restrictions, under which the citizens have the right to leave their homes only once a day and for a certain time period of an hour and a half.

All contact cases contacted, contact with these people and are estimated to have to be tested regularly by the IKSHP and in co-operation with municipal emergency headquarters. The good luck is that studies are disappearing, we have no hearth in Rubik, and we're practically heading towards the first recovery of the person who's been to Pestovo. Today, its first negative result has come true. And if confirmed today that we have negatives, we will have the fifth patient recovered from the village of Pestove”, Tahiri said.

Do you ask them from the national level to have greater consultation with Kosovo municipalities that decisions concerning preventing the spread of coronary are more efficient.

If we had a better consultation between ourselves, greater coordination, even measures and decisions would be more efficient. So let us very much hope that even these disputes that we have these times will be overcome. We as municipalities daily face demands from citizens, farmers, farmers, construction workers, because in a village if there is no case, there are construction jobs that can continue there. Why don't there be such co-operation, why do we force those citizens to break the law when we can use rules in that part, not uniforms, as they do in the urban area”, Tahiri said.

Along with the Kosovo Islamic Community in Vushtrri, Tahiri said today at every mosque, after the prayers, the imams will call “please, stay at home”.
