Swedish MPs have called for the restoration of sanctions against Russia at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The proposal is made by the Centre Party deputies and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Kerstin Lundgren and Magnus Ec.
This requirement is based on the disregard that the official Moscow made decisions made to the Council of Europe and other international institutions.
Sanctions against Russia were imposed in 2014 in response to Russia's support for the rebels in eastern Ukraine and the invasion of Crime. These sanctions deprived the Russian delegation of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly of the vote.
In June 2019, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe had adopted a resolution demanding that the Russian delegation return full authorization until all rights were returned to the Russian delegation on January 29, 2020.
We remember that during this time when Russia was still facing sanctions from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, it had attempted to smuggle “the Russian Europarliamentary, Alexei Kondratiev, who raised big reactions in Kosovo.
Kondratiev was part of the Russian contingent within KFOR, while after a stir in a Pristina nightclub, he was injured in an attempt to kidnap a female, Kosovo Television and the German daily BILD had reported. Later, the rapporteur's position for Kosovo received German eurodeput Peter Bayer.
