Compared to the more pandemic situation COVID-19, Kosovo is facing a new political crisis following the collapse of the Government last month. The Vetevendosje movement requires the dismissed government to remain in office and immediately after the pandemic is transferred to new elections, but all other parliamentary parties have indicated in favour of creating a new government without an election.
President Hashim Thaci has even warned “constitutional step” this week, while LDK It is ready to make the government if the president gives them the mandate. Outside these political developments seems to be standing the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which does not want to be part of a new government.
Albin Kurti's refusal to try forming a new ruling coalition, as it is bringing about another coalition formation, the LDK- AAK-AKR. Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and MP PDK, Memli Krasniqi, says that, whatever the coalition will bring the formation of the new government, they will remain in opposition. Asked by the Euronews journalist Albania, Bruna Cifligu if they would vote for Isa Mustaf for prime minister gave this answer:
“Isa Mustafen will not vote as well and we will not vote on any party that creates governments. We will not vote on any government that will not be led by the PDK. We've been waiting for Mr. Kurti will move in line with the Constitution and try to create a new majority. After that comes a new attempt, but we'll still be in opposition”, Mr. said. Krasniqi.
Speaking of the meeting called by incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, where Mr. Krasniqi was the only political representative outside the VV after other parties boycotted him, the Parliament's deputy chairman said there were no proposals or demands during the discussions and named the meeting propaganda.
On the other hand, the Parliament's deputy chairman hints that, the PDK supports the idea of forming a new government without going to the elections, as it says there should be no vacuum.
The problem is Mr. Kurti in the first place, as being prime minister, has been rejected in co-operation with the opposition but also within the coalition that by his actions destroyed it. We as opposition have played our role and with concrete proposals. Attitude The PDK has been clear since the election outcome and we will be opposition parties. We have a government that has a guardian role and has no legitimacy to act with full legislative capacities, as it has no right to propose laws in Parliament”, Krasniqi told Euronews Albania.
