Mission NATO, led by KFOR, has donated equipment for personal protection worth 70,000 euros for the hospitals in Pristina and Gracanica, “in support of Kosovo's continued institutions' efforts against the COVID-19“pandemic.
KFOR reports that thousands of gloves, masks, glasses, insulting clothing, as well as infrared and antiseptic hand cleaning thermometers will be offered for medical staff to help properly treat patients and avoid further spread of the virus, especially among health professionals who perform daily tasks of vital importance.
According to KFOR's announcement, the project was funded by NATO and implemented by KFOR's Civil Co-operation-Ushtak team and is part of the Alliance's overall commitment to supporting its operations and its member states and partners.
“Determination is a solidarity action that reflects the close co-operation developed between KFOR and the Ministry of Public Health and is part of the NATO-led mission to ensure a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo, as mandated by UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999”, KFOR Commander Michele Risi has said.
“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, KFOR has continued its activities regularly, while implementing careful and strong measures in line with World Health Organisation guidelines to limit the spread of the virus and minimize the risks for its members and communities serving. KFOR's ability to perform operations has not diminished. Our forces remain ready, and our decisive work continues,” Rizi added.
