Ismaili: Hypocrosis to seek choices in the middle of the pandemic, and the other side to ask citizens to stay at home

Democratic Party of Kosovo Secretary-General Meren Ismaili has spoken in an interview for Online Economy for the meeting, which today, together with PDK leader Kadri Veselini, has been held with President Hashim Thacci for being created in the country after the fall of the Kurti Government.

Ismaili also talked about the financial package the Government has to make to help private sector workers and businesses, as well as the way the government manages to evacuate the pandemic with coronavirus.

“Po we responded to the country's president's invitation, Hashim Thaci, who had to make a consultation with all parliamentary parties. Of course, our position is that in all the options that are now, the most important is to preserve the Constitution and constitutional order and whatever solution comes out, be by respecting the Constitution of Kosovo. What has been created, a crisis that occurred because of a coalition partners' distrust. So we need to react as quickly as we can get out of this situation, but of course why we need a quick tempo, that does not mean that the rules of the Constitution must be broken. So we need to have a very clear position as a political party, which over the parties is the Constitution of Kosovo. Our attitude is quite clear. We like the PDK, since October 6th, have stressed that we are opposition parties and we will be opposition, and that shows that for us this political game that is happening among those that caused the crisis is not a game for power, but for us it is important to preserve the Constitution of Kosovo. But on the other hand, to give a solution to the situation because our citizens are waiting for this situation not to last any longer because they deepened those who began governance, but they have to create a new situation, so to create opportunities to make the government and continue before”, Ismaili said.

He has also talked about interpretations that incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti is making about leaving the political crisis.

The political parties should be called to the rules and not to political interpretations. You have seen that a few days ago, it was a Constitutional Court decision that showed that the Kurti government, at the helm with Albin Kurti, has committed a constitutional violation, and precisely by making unfound political interpretations based on the law. So they are already known as violators of the Constitution, and I think that as such morally and professionally, they are not allowed to talk about constitutional actions. In his cv of numerous injuries to Kosovo, there is now another stain, which is an violator of the Constitution”, he has said.

Secretary The PDK has also spoken of Vetevendosje Movement's request for new elections at this time of pandemic. He said that it is hypocritical to look for choices and to call for stay at home.

We think this is a great hypocrisy. On one side of the video, to say that it's good to stay at home, and to say that it's good to go to the elections, so these two don't stick to each other, because elections mean election campaigns, party gatherings, that in case of pandemic as we are right now, it would mean the enzyme of cases with coronavrous. So this is the hypocrisy that requires choices in the pandemic when you know they can't happen now. The PDK every time there are options to have elections, we are for elections. So we have no doubt that what we say, we talk it based on the will of the people, and we're pretty sure that we're going to do extremely well in the elections and we're going to ask that elections be held an hour ago. But not with these political games, which now come to the elections when all the people are closed, when businesses are paralyzed and people don't get salaries, asking to go to the elections is a very large dupey”, Ismaili said.

Ismaili, who was in the previous hangover was Minister of Health, has called for more tests to be conducted on citizens for coronavirus because only in this way can the most adequate treatment be managed.

I think the steps that have been taken here, of course, are steps in the right direction, but what needs to be done is to be a little bit more intense and more focused on that with those steps to make progress. So as Coronavius grows in Kosovo, so should our steps, to fight it. So we can't believe the steps we started three weeks ago. So I think getting out of this situation is two areas that we have to act on: The first is health. We should have more frequent tests. And the World Health Organization has said that tests are extremely important, so this is in the health aspect that we need to do. On the other hand, the financial package, so for all citizens and businesses in Kosovo, the sooner we get it out, and there's the second danger the Kurti government is making, because it's known that Kosovo's budget can only be restructured on the basis of the decision of the Parliament and Albin Kurti has proposed a package of completely bypassing the Parliament, even calling the Assembly a headache, and there's the risk it is even entering into a new constitutional violation, so it shows little about its mentality that at the moment, the rules and the democratic order and is not in its plan at all. In his plan is his personal promotion, violating any rules or provisions of the Constitution. We demand that the Assembly meet, we demand that the package, which is 150m euros, is extremely small, so that it is at least 300m euros, in contrast, will prolong the crisis, so we will not get out of the crisis but we will prolong the economic crisis, the effects that families in Kosovo will feel”, Ismaili said.
