AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj has said that through a letter he has announced to European Union Special Representative for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, the position of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo in terms of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
According to him, the dialogue mediated by the EU has deviated from the topics of substantial importance and jeopardised Kosovo's achievements, while stressing that the current approach by High Representative Joseph Borell and Lajcak sees as a “attempt to delay the final agreement and restore dialogue to an endless” process.
Haradinaj has stressed that there is hope of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue being finalised with mutual recognition.
Full letter:
Dear Mr. You little...
I would like to thank you for your letter of April 9, 2020, as well as for proposing a telephone conversation at the request of the European Union Special Representative. Given the unclear political circumstances, I believe a phone call would be unnecessary.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo's stance on dialogue remains unchanged: the EU-mediated dialogue under former High Representative Federica Moghrini has deviated from topics of substantial importance, has jeopardised Kosovo's achievements, and seriously damaged EU credibility to mediate dialogue in the future. Moreover, I see the current approach by High Representative Joseph Borell and you as an attempt to drag the final agreement back into an endless process.
However, Kosovo has welcomed the role of Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Emmanuel Macron to personally engage in the legally binding comprehensive agreement.
I've been constantly loud and clear to the U.S. active role fugitives in dialogue. Now the new energy situation from the US for Kosovo has raised hopes that Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, over a decade, will be finalised with mutual recognition at the existing borders. However, EU mediation under US leadership is viewed as positive.
